Every Enemy Territory forum I know has a specific topic dedicated to configuration tweaks. These are small changes to the default ET configuration which will improve your gaming and make it more enjoyable in the process. My favourite ones are:

It's always a pain in the back when your computer/Windows fails or breaks. Not only you lose all your data (documents, pictures etc.) but also all your applications and games. Has your ET been crashing a lot lately? Apparently some software running on your computer while you are playing Enemy Territory might be crashing Punkbuster. This, in turn, makes your game crash with the usual Windows error (Application ET.exe has encountered an unknown error….).

If you have etpub mod installed on your server then you'll find the following configuration settings interesting and fun! (more information on mods here)
g_hitsounds 1: if you have etpub installed you and haven't go this variable set as 1 then you are missing something! Change this to 1 to activate hitsounds
