Wolfenstein Hitboxes
Many times I’ve wondered why emptying a clip of 30 bullets on my enemy did not only kill him but also did not even hit him! (and if you are playing a MOD which supports hitsounds then you know when you are hitting someone). The reason is simple: many times things are not what they look like. The hitboxes around the player figures in the game have a square or rectangular shape so sometimes it might appear that you are hitting someone where in fact you are not and vice-versa (appears that you are not hitting them yet you are). If you know where hitboxes are located then you could have an advantage over your enemy. The location of hitboxes is not a simple matter. Basically they change according to:
- what gun you/enemy is holding (e.g. nade, pistol, smg etc)
- what position you/enemy is taking (e.g. standing, prone, crouch)
- the angle at which you are looking at the enemy (or the enemy is looking at you)
Here are some examples:

Wow those hitboxes are huge! Thanks for this.
Also, does anyone know of a good server that uses teamspeak?(or other voip) I would love to try this game with voice!
Usually game servers and Teamspeak don’t always go together, meaning that someone might decide to get a game server and not a TeamSpeak server. It’s not like other FPS games (like BF I think) which provide voice support through the game. If you are in Europe, a good server to try is Euroboobies: 213.200.95.43:27971 which is loaded with etpub and custom soundpack. If you are in the US, I suggest 206.222.3.114:27960 (etpub and soundpack as well). Once you are there ask if someone is using Teamspeak and if yes then they’ll give you the ip and details.
Hope this helps
Note that the head hitboxes matches the position of the head a lot better if b_realhead (ETPro) or g_realhead (ETPub) is activated on the server.
